Advanced material synthesis and its characterization towards applications of organic electronics

2017
This radical report surveys developments of derivatives of naphthalene diimides (NDIs) and perylene diimides (PDIs) in the field of organic electronics. It explores new synthesis process, and progress in the field of imide substituted naphthalene diimides and perylene diimide. Along with this, influence of side chain substitution at imide position has been examined. The morphologies of the aggregated molecules due to this substitution have been observed. The shape, size and the topography of these small molecules in accordance with different organic solvents have been analyzed with the help of FESEM and TEM images. The molecular interaction in the π-π stacking between the side chains was consequently investigated with the help of UV-vis spectrometer to examine the absorption, solubility and aggregation properties. Investigation of the electron transfer ability was done with the help of the DFT calculations and the cyclic voltammetry characterizations. The plane of the molecular stacking was scrutinized with the assistance of XRD analysis. Finally, this report concludes with the views on naphthalene diimide and perylene diimide derivative chemistry for endeavors of future research.
