Measurement of W boson transverse momentum based on data simulation
2017
The W boson production in hadronic collisions is studied via its leptonic decays. Therefore the missing information due to the decay neutrino appears. The transverse momentum of W bosons has a direct impact on the precision measurement of the W boson mass. The paper describes the methodology to estimate the transverse momentum of W bosons in hadronic collisions. It is studied with the baseline Monte Carlo sample, where the full detector response was added. The forward folding techniques were used to achieve the truth spectum from pseudo-data and compare it Monte Carlo predictions.
