Drivetrain design and feasibility analysis of electric three-wheeler powered by renewable energy sources
2017
Three wheelers, also known as Auto Rickshaw, are being produced and used enormously in several cities like Dhaka, Cox's Bazar, Bangkok, New Delhi. Conventional internal combustion engine based design not only causes the emission of Green House Gas (GHG) but also it carries a poor energy management and propulsion system which is less effective and impractical in long run. In this paper a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) based new drivetrain for the three-wheeler has been proposed. Cox's Bazar, a major touristic point in Bangladesh, has been considered as a project area. Feasibility analysis has been done by considering different important facts and environmental conditions of Cox's Bazar. Also, a cost and financial analysis has been carried out. The optimized design reveals that it will be possible to reduce CO2 emission by 139 tons by using the proposed design. The analysis and optimization has been done using RETScreen software.
