Construcción y validación del Inventario de Locus de Control del Peso: resultados preliminares Construction and validation of Weight Locus of Control Inventory: Preliminary results

The construction process and initial psychometric properties of the Weight Locus of Control Inventory are presented. Stemming from a thorough revision of literature, an opinion poll and the consultation to four experts, 60 items were constructed. On a sample of 155 students, sixteen items were selected according to their symmetry and correlation item-test values over 0.32. Correlation and validity studies were carried out in a sample of 188 students. Three factors were found which explain 44.65 % of the variance. The indexes of internal consistency for such factors, as well the reliability indexes test-retest are also shown. The results are discussed presenting suggestions for future studies.
