Synthesis of rhodacarboranes containing σ- and π-carboranyl ligands in one molecule

Abstract 16-Electron half-sandwich rhodium complexes containing carborane ligands of two different σ- and π- types 3,3-μ-(1′,2′-C 2 B 10 H 10 -1′,2′-S 2 -)-4-L-3,1,2-RhC 2 B 9 H 10 (L = SMe 2 , NMe 3 , NMe 2 CH 2 Ph) were synthesized for the first time. The solid state structures of 3-(COD)-4-PhCH 2 Me 2 N-3,1,2-RhC 2 B 9 H 10 and 3,3-μ-(1′,2′-C 2 B 10 H 10 -1′,2′-S 2 -)-4-Me 3 N-3,1,2-RhC 2 B 9 H 10 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
