Biogéographie des ammonites et variations du niveau marin : analyse quantitative des peuplements du Kimméridgien ouest-européen

1993
The Kimmeridgian group of the Western European swell is usefule to demonstrate a fundamental relation between sea level changes and the biogeographic dynamics of ammonites. Globally, this swell appears to be a mixed fauna area between the Subboreal and Submediterranean provinces. Correlative to the rise of the global sea level, the endemic elements become dominant in the ammonite faunas. However, in detail, the Submediterranean or Subboreal ammonites colonize this area during transgressive phases and maximum sea level rise wherease the endemic lineages appear in the highstand system tracts and at the lower part of the lowstands
