Fungi associated with ornamentals, fruit and forage trees in Laguna, Philippines

Fungal diseases of various crops including ornamentals, fruit and forage trees were collected from different sites in Laguna [Philippines]. Diagnosis and microscopic examination were done on samples to identify associated fungi at the genus level. Leaf spots on the following ornamentals (Hosta sieboldiana, Tabernaemontana pandacaqui and species of Medinilla, Tababueia and Diffenbachia) revealed presence of Cercosporoid species except blight and white rust associated with Pestalotiopsis on Tagetes and Coleosporium on Solidago, respectively. Various diseases obn fruit trees include rust on Artocarpus camansi with Uredo sp as associated fungi; powdery mildew on Annona squamosa with Cercosporoid species. Diseases on forage trees include tar spot on Pongamia pinnata and leaf spot on Sesbania grandiflora assocaited with Phyllachora and Cercosporoid species, respectively.
