Extracting capacity of ionic liquids adsorbed at the surface of alumina nanoparticles: Conductimetric and dynamic light scattering studies

2009
A new extraction techniques based on the use of ionic liquids was proposed. A mixture of alkylbenzyldimethylammonium nitrate was adsorbed on the surface of nanoparticles of alumina. It was shown that ionic liquid aggregates at the surface and forms quasi liquid layer capable to dissolve a high amount of the extracted component. This extraction system is selective and has high capacity. The method was tested with extraction of the salicylic acid from aqueous solutions.
