P-76: Photoalignment of Polymer-Stabilized V-FLCD and Intrinsic HV-FLCD and the Effect on Their EO Characteristics

We have developed polyamide RN-1333 and new RN-1199 series and we used them to fabricate defect free FLCDs exhibiting V-shaped switching and half-V switching, where we controlled pretilt angle and azimuthal anchoring energy by adopting the double exposure method including hybrid alignment. It is shown that the photoalignment technique is useful not only to fabricate zigzag defect free FLCDs but also to reduce operation voltage compared with rubbing method.
