MP08-04 INCIDENTS RELATED TO FOLEY CATHETER INSERTION AND MAINTENANCE AND THE EFFICACY OF A MEDICAL STAFF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR SAFETY MANAGEMENT

2016
nights was shorter than Not Fatigued nights by 191 min (p<0.001). All 4 RPs had shorter TTA on Not Fatigued versus Baseline nights; the difference was significant for 2 (p<0.001). All RP’s TTA for Fatigued nights were less than the TTA range for both Baseline and Not Fatigued nights. CONCLUSIONS: Accelerometers are minimally invasive tools capable of measuring RP sleep patterns. RPs slept less on HC than on normal weeknights. Self reported Fatigued nights corresponded to a markedly lower TTA, suggesting that our fatigue mitigation protocol is effective. In line with the ACGME’s original goal, further work is needed to evaluate the implications of HC associated fatigue on patient safety.
