Titanium Film Formation at the Interface Between Liquid Rare-Earth Metal and Molten Salt

2021
With the aim of finding a cost-effective method for the fabrication of titanium films and plates, two fabrication processes utilizing the interface between liquid rare-earth metals and molten salts are proposed. In addition, we demonstrated that the reaction of liquid cerium with LiF-TiF3 molten salt at 900 °C, with subsequent cooling to 700 °C at 0.3 °C min−1, yields a 40-μm-thick titanium film at the cerium/molten salt interface.
