Raman spectroscopic studies of Li2SO4
1983
Abstract The normal mode frequency distribution in Li 2 SO 4 is compared with those of LiNaSO 4 and LiKSO 4 . The temperature dependent bandwidth of a low frequency mode attributed to librational motion of the sulfate ion is measured from room temperature to the phase transition temperature at 573°C. The band broadening appears to result from anharmonic contributions up to about 450°C. Above that temperature orientational broadening seems to be the dominant mechanism. The bandwidth of another low frequency mode is observed to diverge as the transition temperature is approached.
