COMPLEXATION OF MOLYBDENUM BY SIDEROPHORES : SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURE OF THE DOUBLE-HELICAL CIS-DIOXOMOLYBENUM(VI) COMPLEX OF A BIS(CATECHOLAMIDE) SIDE ROPHORE ANALOGUE

1996
The binuclear cis-dioxomolybdenum(VI) complex [{MoO2(5-Licam)}2]4- shows an unusual double-helical structure in the solid state because two coordination sites of each metal center are blocked by oxo ligands. The bridging linear bis(catecholamide) ligand is a direct analogue of a naturally occurring catecholamide siderophore isolated from the N2-fixing cells of Azotobacter vinelandii.
