Comparative machining tests of 11 years old teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) from two geographic regions of Costa Rica (Atlantic and Pacific) are presented in this article. Two different plantation growing sites from both regions were selected; one fast growing (site 1) and one slow growing (site 2). Machining properties included; planning, sanding, boring and turning. Testing procedures of the American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM-D-1666-87, with modifications proposed for tests of tropical woods were used.
