An Adaptive Control Algorithm with Dual Features

Abstract This paper presents a suboptimal dual controller. The loss function that is minimized contains two parts. The first is the performance index for the control. The second is a measure of the quality of the estimation of the unknown parameters of the process. An analytical solution is obtained by making a series expansion of the loss function with respect to the control signal. Analysis and simulations indicate that the approximated dual controller is a good choice when it is necessary to control systems with rapidly varying parameters.
