On the Biodiversity of the Georgian Black Sea Coast

1998
Ecological problems on the threshold of the year two thousand A. D. have acquired special significance for civilization and life on earth itself. There are so many obvious proofs of this that it is not expedient to focus on them. Apparently, the 21st century will go down in history as a century of ecology, as a period when everybody will be aware of the world’s being on the brink of ecological disaster and the necessity of concrete and practical action to protect, rehabilitate and sustainably use extremely depleted natural resources. A new global nature-protection philosophy is required. There is no other alternative if we want to survive.
