The Community of Inquiry and Approach toward Enhancing Creative Thinking

This paper is aimed at study the effect of P4C program on developing creativity in first grade students in a high school from Tehran Zone 14 by means of Community of Inquiry Method. The current research was carried out by quasi- experimental technique and through benefitting from introductory and final testing research plan administered on control group and without adoption of random selection. The statistical population included all high school male first graders in Tehran Zone 14 during academic year 2011-12. Among them, 60 participants were chosen as sample group to conduct multi- stage cluster sampling method (30 in control group and 30 in experimental group). Abedi’s test of Creativity was adopted to collect data after holding the given teaching course and in order to analyze data, students’ t-test was utilized for the dependent groups. Overall, findings from this study confirmed validity and reliability of Philosophy for Children (P4C) and its main components i.e. fluency, elaboration, originality, and flexibility.
