Prevalência de enteroparasitoses em usuários na faixa etária de 2 a 12 anos atendidos por uma Unidade de Saúde da Família do município de Belém, Pará

Objective: To verify the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in children living in the city of Belem - Para and attended by the USF Canal da Visconde. Methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive analytical research with the results of the analysis of parasitological examination of feces of children assisted by the research USF. Student's t-test and chi-square test were used. Results: The majority (73.6%, 81/110; p <0.0001) of the children underwent fecal parasitological examination by the direct method. Among those who did not take the exam (48.3%), the guardian canceled the exam while the others did not attend or did not justify the absence. The population had a prevalence of parasitism of 75.3%, with the highest positivity for protozoan cysts (66.7%). Among them, the most frequent was G. lamblia (70.4%), followed by E. coli (22.2%); The only species of helminth identified by the technique was A. lumbricoides, present in 8.6% of the total samples evaluated. Conclusion: The results suggest that the increase in enteroparasitic diseases is influenced by the lack of personal hygiene measures associated with poor drinking water quality, as well as inadequate garbage collection, are problems found in the studied community.
