제나키스의 음악적 사고를 기초로 한 필립스관의 형태에 관한 연구

Iannis Xenakis(1922-2001), composer, architect, engineer and media artist, designed together with Le Corbusier the Philips-pavilion for the 1958 Brussels World Fair. This pavilion is an example of combined music and architectural space. This study aims to analyse working simultaneously in architecture and music and applying the same structures in two different fields. This study examines Philips-pavilion and Metastasis. Results of this study are as follows. 1.Xenakis's musical character is glissando. 2. Glissando has the lines which are skew directing lines and directing curves. 3 Xenakis was familiar with ruled surfaces, with hyperbolic paraboloid and conoid forms. What is interesting is not only the hyperbolic paraboloid form itself in its continuity and complexity but also the way Xenakis implemented this same structure in music and architecture. What is specific to Xenakis is the way he used these forms in different fields, transferred from one field to another, from music to architecture.
