Effect of Preparation Technique on Permeability and Strength of Cement-Grouted Sand

1994
The primary objectives of this study are: (a) to quantify the mass of cementitious material captured in the void spaces of a sand injected with a cement grout, (b) to correlate the mass of captured cementitious material with the permeability and strength of the grouted sand, (c) to assess the changes, if any, that occur with distance from the point of injection, and (d) to identify the effects that result from using two vastly different procedures to combine the sand and grout into a grouted sand. A secondary objective is to relate the rheological behavior of microfine cement grouts to their injectability and effectiveness in improving the mechanical properties of the sand.
