Development of FSR Micro-Sensor Network

2018
This paper presents the development of a smaller scale Forward Scatter Radar (FSR) sensor for a wireless sensor network which enables the target’s information to be transmitted to the control panel wirelessly. Therefore, extensive studies have been conducted in choosing the suitable components for the miniaturized FSR system, resulted the proposed design to consist of a power supply, transmitter-receiver modules, and a wireless module as its’ main components, allowing reduction of its hardware scale as compared to the conventional FSR sensor without affecting its main function in detecting ground target. To demonstrate the potential of the developed FSR sensor, an experiment of target detection is set up utilizing human as the target of interest. The results obtained from the experiment proved the functionality of the proposed FSR sensor where the target data can be accessed wirelessly from the control panel, while the size of the sensor is reduced to 88.2% as compared to the prototype. The successful rate of target detection within test session is 100%.
