Peri Mortem Cesarean Section-When every second counts

2021
Abstract Cardiac arrest in pregnancy is a rare entity. However, owing to its uncommon occurrence, there exist deficits in proper competences among practitioners regarding advanced life support procedure of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and requirement for peri-mortem caesarean section. We report a case of a 40-year-old multigravida patient with diagnosed pre-eclampsia, whose pregnancy was detected in the third trimester. She was non-compliant with oral antihypertensives and suffered from a cardiac arrest and underwent a peri-mortem caesarean section alongside simultaneous fetal and maternal resuscitation.
