Numerical modeling of a chemical oxygen–iodine laser

1982
A calculation is reported of the specific output energy and of the gain of a cw chemical oxygen–iodine laser. An allowance is made for the influence of quenching impurities present in the active medium. Conditions are found for achieving simultaneously high values of both the specific output energy (~100 J/g) and of the gain [(2–4)×10−3 cm−1]; this should make it possible to use resonators with a high coupling coefficient (0.3–0.5).
