An Intergrated Method for Automatic Identification of the Foot Point of Slope

The foot point of slope(FOS)is the core limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles. Methodological and algorithmic research for the identification of the foot point of slope is discussed to improve our independent abilities and maintain our national maritime rights.A quadratic simplified method based on the D-P algorithm and extreme points of second derivation is proposed and a quadratic derivative method to the original profiles and D-P profiles is suggested for the first time.Multiple identification methods for FOS are brought forward based on gradient,depth,second derivative of terrain,Concave,convex,continuity and segmentations of profiles.By analyzing the terrain,slope,second derivation and D-P profiles synthetically,the identification of FOS is automatically realized finally.The underlying program is developed preliminarily and the validity of the method is proved by measured multi-beam bathymetric data.
