Primary liver cancer (PLC) ranks third among all cancer sites in the People’s Republic of China and causes at least 100 000 deaths per year. High mortality areas are concentrated in the east to south coastal region, including many coastal islands [7]. To identify the risk factor(s) responsible for the high rate is of interest.
