Microscopic Observation of Tl2O3 Electrodeposition at N-Type WSe2 Electrode.

Abstract Tl 2 O 3 was anodically deposited onto n -WSe 2 electrodes in Tl + ion-containing solution in the dark and under illumination. It has been confirmed by a careful TEM and SEM observation that the deposition in the dark takes place selectively at the surface imperfections (steps, dislocations), thus showing clearly the distribution of the surface imperfections. We have also observed that the deposition under illumination occurred at both smooth Van der Waals and surface defects.
