Combination of "No.2 Weikang Prescription" and Omeprazole for erosive esophagitis of spleen deficiency-qi counterflow pattern: A report of 68 cases

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of "No.2 Weikang Prescription" with Omeprazole Capsule in the treatment of erosive esophagitis of spleen deficiency-qi counterflow pattern.Methods One hundred and thirty-five cases were randomized into two groups: treatment group in which 68 cases were treated by "No.2 Weikang Prescription" and Omeprazole,and control group in which 67 cases were treated by Omeprazole,with a course of 8 weeks.The clinical efficacy,esophageal mucosa inflammation and symptom scores were observed;disease recurrence was observed in the following 6 months.Results The overall effective rate was 94.1% in the treatment group and 86.6% in the control group,with a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The effective rate of esophageal mucosa inflammation was 93.6% in the treatment group and 80.0% in the control group,with a difference between the two groups(P0.05).There were significant differences in symptom scores between before and after treatment in each group,and significant difference was found in symptom scores between the two groups after treatment(P0.05).The recurrence rate was 22.45% in the treatment group and 58.97% in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Whether on short-term effects or long-term follow-up results,combined "No.2 Weikang Prescription" with Omeprazole is better than Omeprazole for erosive esophagitis.
