Tuberculosis of proximal tibia

A case of Tuberculosis involving the upper tibia is presented by the author.  The patient presented initially with chronic infrapatellar bursitis and was treated accordingly, After four months, there was a reccurence and on further investigations, the diagnosis of tuberculosis of upper tibia was confimed and anti tuberculous treatment was started. Duing treatment, he developed a pathological fracture tibia, which was managed consevatively. The case is reported since tuberculosis of tibia is a relatively rare condition especially when associated with a pathological fracture.
