A COMPARISON BETWEEN CONVENTIONAL AND SEGMENTAL RELUCTANCE MOTORS

1989
ABSTRACT The paper presents a comparison between the conventional and segmental reluctance motors. Four different motors have been considered and their performances are analyzed. The optimum electrical parameters, which provide maximum improvement of performance, have been obtained. The behavior of each motor is investigated using nominal and optimum parameters. The results are presented in a comparative form, illustrating the basic differences between these motor types when either constant or variable voltage and frequency supplies are used. The results of this study are valuable for both motor designers and users.
