Synthesis of Magnetic Gelatin and Its Adsorption Property for Cr(VI)

2014
Magnetic materials have great potential for the removal of Cr(VI) ions from wastewater and exhibit advantages including the reduction of secondary pollution, ease of separation, and high adsorption capacity. In this paper, magnetic gelatin was prepared in an easy and effective way. Also, magnetic gelatin shows good dispersion and high magnetization. In addition, it shows an excellent adsorption capacity to offer rapid Cr(VI) removal from water within 50 min and the calculated value of the maximum adsorption capacity (Qm) is 106.38 mg g–1. The adsorption isotherm for Cr(VI) adsorption on magnetic gelatin conforms to the Langmuir isotherm model, and the adsorption process follows pseudo-second-order kinetics.
