Sobrecarga de trabalho e comportamentos de risco no trânsito de motociclistas acidentados

2017
Introduction: Work overload is directly related to emotional exhaustion and dissatisfaction in performing the activity, while driving risk behaviors are related to the severity of motorcycle accidents. The objective of the study was to analyze the relationship between work overload and adoption of risk behavior of injured motorcyclists hospitalized at Hospital de Restauracao. Methodology: A cross-sectional exploratory study carried out with injured workers, drivers of motorcycles, hospitalized at the Hospital of Restoration in Recife- PE, using a questionnaire with socio-demographic variables related to the accident, behavioral characteristics of work overload and adoption of risk behaviors. RESULTS: 124 people were surveyed. The majority were males (97.6%), young adults aged 18 to 39 years (81.5%), with a monthly average income lower than 2 wages (75.0%). About 55% of the interviewees had an informal employment relationship. Collision with another motor vehicle was the most frequent type of accident (62.0%). Excessive work demands, difficulties in performing work tasks, feeling tired during work and feeling pressured to perform work tasks are associated with the sleep / fatigue outcome at the time of the accident. A negative association was found between wanting to change profession and alcohol consumption on the day of the accident. Conclusion: The work overload is associated to the adoption of risk behavior in motorcycle driving, which may have an impact on the number of accidents.
