Digital Humanities und Exegese

2017
In this article, we summarize the current state of the implementation of methods from the Digital Humanities (DH) in the field of New Testament studies, on the one hand, and examine its potentials as well as its limits in this field on the other hand. The article is divided along the methods stylometry, linguistic analysis, text re-use/reception history, manuscripts/textual criticism. While further development in this field is certainly necessary, DH has made impressive inroads into New Testament studies. It enhances the field by automating already established approaches and challenges to re-think concepts and approaches that may be indebted to the print era that gave birth to the field. In the end, we explore the challenges of the emerging DH for academic teaching in the field of Biblical Studies from a perspective of university didactics.
