Experience in miniprobe sonography-assisted double-channel endoscopic enucleation of submucosal esophageal tumor

2006
Objective To evaluate the clinic application of transendoscopic miniprobe sonography (TEMPS)-assisted double-channel endoscopic intraluminal enucleation (DCEILE) of submucosal esophageal tumor (SMET), Methods Two hundred and eighty three cases of SMET diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasonography were studied between Jan 1999 and May 2005. TEMPS-assisted DCEILE were performed on 84 selected patients. Histopathological study was executed postoperatively, Results In all patients TEMPS-assisted DCEILE procedures were conducted successfully without any serious complications such as perforation, massive bleeding and stenosis, Blood oozing occurred in 2 patients (2. 3% ). Of the 83 examined cases, 65 stromal tumors, 17 lipomas and 1 fibroneuroma were confirmed histopathologically. After a follow-up of about 4. 1 months, no recurrence was found. Conclusion TEMPS-assisted DCEILE of SMET has been proven to be a safe, effective, convenient and feasible procedure.
