Cantos y cantores constructores de identidades en Fray Marcos (Uruguay)

In Fray Marcos, town of about three thousand inhabitants located in the southern boundary of the department of Florida , Uruguay , attempted an ethnographic approximation through the musicians as builders of a local identity. With musical production of Fray Marcos as main axis of study we reflect about relations between artistic manifestations, performance, builders of one sense shared by certain group of subjects and reject by others. Is seen a relative complexity regarding identity construction of the people in their link with musical production. Historic and mythical characters are present in the singing of the town and constitute identity disputes.
