Prevention of Parastomal Herniation after Miles Operation in Rectal Cancer Patients

Objective To investigate the prevention of colonic parastomal hernia.Methods Colostomy was constructed in 123 patients with rectal cancer after Miles operation.The clinical data were analyzed retrospectively.Result Parastomal hernia occurred in 14 of 74 patients(18.9%) with colostomy through para-abdominal rectus muscle,while in 2 of 49 patients(4.1%) with colostomy through abdominal rectus muscle.Conclusion It is recommended of the colostomy through abdominal rectus muscle for reducing the rate of parastomal hernia.
