In the Central part of the Pan-African to Hercynian Mauritanide belt (West Africa), field observations as well as remote sensing data allow us to interpret this frontal zone of the orogen as a Pan-African II (ca 550 Ma) thrust, reworked more and more intensively northwards during a Late Paleozoic phase. This pattern is in good agreement with geodynamic models published previously
