Network based hybridization of the TLM and the TWF method

A combination of the transmission line matrix (TLM) method and the transverse wave formulation (TWF) method based on a diakoptics approach is presented for the efficient modeling of multiscale and multilayered planar structures. The formal similarities of TLM and TWF enable a direct diakoptics approach, partitioning the simulation domain into TLM and TWF subdomains. The TWF subdomain is completely characterized by its discrete Green's functions on all ports of the interface. The computational effort can be considerably reduced by using a connection subnetwork which performs a transformation from the pixel to the modal domain.
