Experimental Study of LNAPL Contaminated Soil Surveys Using HDR and GPR Method
2012
Soil contamination is one of the important global environmental problems. Geophysical survey methods base on the physical properties differences of soil, such as electrical properties, magnetic, elasticity, and so on. When the LNAPL leak into the soil, it would cause local changes of the soil physical properties. So, in this paper, we used high density resistivity method and ground penetrating radar method, combined with the drilling verification, a field experiment was carried out to study the relation between geophysical anomalies with the distribution of contaminated soil. The result shows that the two methods have strong practicability in contamination detection. The high density resistivity method can describe the range of contaminated area, but it is great than the actual one, however, the ground penetrating radar method has obvious superiority in this respect. In order to promote the application of geophysical prospecting methods in environment contamination survey, this paper also discusses some limitations of these methods.
