Server system and fan detection method thereof

The invention provides a server system and a fan detection method thereof. The system at least comprises a plurality of fan slots, a south bridge chip (SBC) set, a baseboard management controller (BMC) and a basic input/output system (BIOS), wherein, the plurality of fan slots comprise preset fan slots, and the preset fan slots are provided with sensors used for detecting and providing rotating speed data; the BMC is electrically connected with the SBC set and the fan slots so as to control fan operation; and the BIOS is electrically connected with the SBC set and the sensors and is provided with nonredundant sensor data record (SDR) and redundant SDR which are respectively corresponding to a nonredundant configuration status and a redundant configuration status. By utilizing the server system and the fan detection method thereof, the rotating speed data of fans is read and the configuration status of the fans is analyzed according to the rotating speed so as to provide a suitable heat dissipation operating mode, thus better meeting different application demands of a user and reducing the fan cost.
