A study on an after-mixing type CO2 gasdynamic laser using the synchronized stagnation conditions of the two shock tubes.

1987
In order to carry out an experimental study on an after-mixing Gasdynamic Laser (GDL), experimental apparatus was designed, being made up of two diaphragm type shock tubes: a main shock tube and a sub shock tube. When conducting after-mixing GDL experiments using these shock tubes, it is necessary to synchronize the stagnation condition of the main shock tube with that of the sub shock tube. It is difficult to synchronize two stagnation conditions using a conventional diaphragm type shock tube. However, this experimental apparatus enables them to be synchronized within the range of ±400 μsec. Small signal gains and Laser powers were measured using the above apparatus, and the performance of experimental apparatus for after-mixing GDL was confirmed.
