Torsional vibration damper with adjustable load transmission elements
1995
A torsional vibration damper for use with a motor vehicle clutch employs a primary drive mass (1) coupled to a flywheel (38) via a spring device (28, 30) and planetary gearing (102). Springs (30) of the spring device (28, 30) are located in chambers 44 defined between a pair of planet wheel carriers (9) and are coupled to an internal ring gear (24) of the gearing. The primary mass (1) is fixed to a hub 4 on a crankshaft and a sun wheel (7) of the gearing (102) is mounted with play (110) on the hub (4). During alignment the primary mass (1) is angularly displaced to a predetermined extent to cause torque transmission through the gearing and circumferential or radial movement of the sun wheel (7) until forces are balanced and the components are properly aligned. The sun wheel (7) is then secured in the adjusted position.
