Acute myocardial infarction associated with thyrotoxicosis in painless thyroiditis

2009
Thyrotoxicosis has been reported to be associated with a lot of effects on the cardiovascular system such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, heart block and acute coronary syndrome. Acute myocardial infarction without underlying cardiac disease has been rarely reported in cases with painless thyroiditis. We present the case of young man who had no risk factors for acute coronary syndrome and was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction caused by thyrotoxicosis-induced coronary vasospasm, associated with painless thyroiditis.
