Pathophysiologische Bedeutung des Stickstoffmonoxids bei radiogenen Wundheilungsstörungen

2001
In rats, the effect of electron irradiation on wound healing was studied and the outcome of healing was correlated with wound nitric oxide (NO) synthesis. Irradiation significantly reduced wound collagen deposition and wound mechanical strength. Impaired healing was reflected in diminished NO synthesis. Ex vivo, NO synthesis and collagen deposition by wound-derived fibroblasts from irradiated rats was decreased, suggesting that decreased NO synthesis may play a role in radiation-impaired healing.
