MRI and MRA diagnosis in cerebral aneurysm

2004
Objective:To investgate the diagnositic value of the conventional MRI (cMRI) MRA(MR angiogaphy) and its different post-processing methods in the cerebral aneurysm.Methods:44 cases were examed by T 1WI,T 2WI and 3D-TOF-MRA sequences. The post-processing methods of MRA pictures include MIP (maximum intensity projection),SSD (surface shaded display),MPR (mutiplanarreconstruction) and VR (volume reconstruction).Results:44 casse were found the single lession with clear verge and different shaps including simi-round,fusiform,irregular and simi-calabash and so on.The relatively specific signal of the lesions was found including hyperintensity of flowing void effect and mingled intensity of turbulent flow. Some cases were found the flow artifact around the lession.MRA can clearly show the distribution, shape and size of the aneurysm.Combinbed diffent post-processing methods,MRA can also demonstrate the growth direction of the aneurysm, shape of the aneurysm's neck and relation between lession and supplying artery. Conclusion:cMRI and MRA are effctive,non-traumatic methods in demonstrating cerebral aneurysm.Combined the comprehnsion of the cMRI and MRA specific appearance and skilledly operation of angiography's post-processing software, the diagnostic rate of the cerebral aneuysm can be effectively increased.
