Role and Importance of Image Fusion Techniques in Advanced Research

Image quality enhancement can be accompanied successfully via image fusion techniques. A quality image will possess pertinent and essential information helping for human perception, computer vision, and machine vision, etc. And the image quality will be subject to the domain of study or the human perception involved. A universally applicable image fusion technique implementation is not possible to enhance the quality of images in various domains. To address a special domain a specific image fusion technique is required due to diversity in every aspect. In this paper, authors have studied and analyzed several image fusion techniques to be applicable in different-different application areas to have an understanding of the techniques, challenges in the way along with the application fields such as medical imaging, remote sensing, classification, video surveillance, object detection and tracking.
