The worst scars are on the inside -- methods for counteracting violence against women.

This book describes the methods used in different European countries aimed at counteracting violence against women (VAW). The Operation Kvinnofrid International is a transnational knowledge and informational project. Organized into five chapters this book aims to disseminate information increase awareness of VAW and actively preclude VAW. Chapter one presents some of the existing knowledge on this issue that has informed this project with a look at definitions statistics and explanations for this violence. The second chapter describes points of departure for discussing methods to counteract violence against women while the third chapter presents the methodology underlying Kvinnofrid. Measures taken in the European countries involved in Kvinnofrid are highlighted in the fourth chapter. Finally chapter five discusses conclusions about the advantages of transnational cooperation. Suggestions are made on how to start up Kvinnofrid initiatives in other European regions and proposals are given to intensify the struggle against domestic violence.
