Gaussian light beam filamentation in a three-dimensional non-linear slab waveguide

Propagation of three-dimensional continuous wave Gaussian optical beams in a non-linear thin film waveguide containing a self-focusing Kerr-law cladding is studied numerically. The effect of filamentation of the input Gaussian light beam is found to be dependent on the beam power. The influence of linear losses in the non-linear cladding on the filamentation effect is also investigated.
