The learning process in early formal education has to be supported by having an excellent memory to support the learning process, acquiring knowledge and remembering new information. Memory has been proved to be associated with nutrition that obtained from breakfast and as much as 20-30% of children and adolescents around the world did not take breakfast every morning. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between breakfast with short-term memory in the 3rd and 4th grade students in Pertiwi Elementary School at Bandung Wetan District, Bandung City. This research was using analytical observation with cross-sectional design. The subjects of this research was the 3rd and 4th grade students in Pertiwi Elementary School at Bandung Wetan District, Bandung City. The data was taken from filling the form about how often they made breakfast and digit span test. The results showed, from 78 respondents 58 students were take breakfast and the other 20 students didn’t take breakfast. In addition, as many as 44 students obtained optimal results from digit span test (≥9) and the other 34 students didn’t get the optimum result from digit span test (<9). The results of statistical test by using Chi Square showed that there were strong relationship between breakfast and cognitive function of the short-term memory with the value of reseacrh was p = <0.001. The conclusion from this study was there are strong relationship between the importance of having breakfast and short-term memory of the 3rd and 4th grade students in Pertiwi Elementary School at District of Bandung Wetan District, Bandung City.
