Determination of sulfate in drinking water by ultrasonic-acidic barium chromate spectrophotometry.

Objective To simplify the standard examination methods for determination of sulfate in drinking water.Methods A series of improved experiments were carried out on barium chromate spectrophotometry with acidic barium c hromate instead of barium chromate,with ultrasonic instead of heating and boiling and the experiments of precision and accuracy,as well as comparison of experimental data between the improved method and standard examination methods for dr inking water.Results The detectable range,recovery rate,coefficient of variation of the improved method were 5~250mg/L,99.0%~102.7%,0.94%~5.2% respectively,the method could match with standard examination methods(P0.05).Conclusion The improved method for determination of sulfate in drinking water was accurate,rapid,convenient and practical.
