Two-Dimensional Magnetic Neutral Points
1991
Several types of magnetic neutral points are possible in two dimensions. X-points have four separatrix field lines meeting at the neutral point and are a particular kind of star point which have an even number of separatrices greater than two. Asymmetric star points have an odd number of separatrices, at least one of which is a current sheet. Those with three separatrices include: Y-points with the separatrices meeting at angles of 2π/3; cusp-points with two of them touching at the neutral point; and T-points with two meeting the third at right angles.
